Which Turkish Weapons Does Pakistan Use? Full List With Status (2026)
Show Article Summary

Short answer: Pakistan operates seven confirmed families of Turkish weapons as of September 2026: two MILGEM Babur-class corvettes (of four ordered in 2018), two STM-upgraded Agosta 90B submarines (of three), the STM-designed tanker PNS Moawin, 41 TUSAŞ-upgraded F-16s, 24 ASELPOD pods, Bayraktar TB2 and AKINCI drones (inducted by ISPR on 2 January 2024) and, since 6 September 2026, ASELSAN KORKUT and ŞAHİN air-defence guns. The 30-helicopter T129 order was cancelled in 2022; KAAN, KIZILELMA, K2 and GAZAP are press reports. SIPRI (March 2026) makes Pakistan Türkiye’s largest arms customer for 2021–25 at about 16 percent of exports.

Every Turkish weapon in Pakistani service: the master list

The status labels below are kept strictly apart: Ordered is a signed contract with nothing delivered; In production means hulls or airframes exist but have not been accepted; In service is used only where the Pakistan Navy, PAF or ISPR has confirmed induction; Cancelled covers contracts that died; Reported (press) flags claims no official source has confirmed.

Only 2 of 4 Babur-class and 2 of 3 Agosta 90B are in service; TB2 and AKINCI totals are undisclosed (IISS figures are estimates); GAZAP, K2, KIZILELMA and KAAN are reports, not contracts; the T129 was never delivered; the Super Mushshak went from Pakistan to Türkiye.

By value, the Pakistan Navy is where Turkish industry has sold the most; our guide to Pakistan Navy ships and submarines in 2026 places them in the wider fleet.

Babur-class (PN MILGEM) corvettes: 2 of 4 in service

The contract signed on 5 July 2018 with ASFAT covered four MILGEM-derived corvettes worth roughly US$1.5 billion with technology transfer: two hulls built in Istanbul and two at KSEW. PNS Babur (F280) was commissioned on 23 September 2023 and inducted in Karachi on 6 September 2024. PNS Khaibar (F282) was handed over in Istanbul on 20 December 2025 and inducted in Karachi on 4 April 2026. The Karachi-built PNS Badr (F281, launched 20 May 2022) and PNS Tariq (F283, launched 2 August 2023) are on sea trials; Naval News reporting from April 2026 expects Badr in 2026 and Tariq around early 2027.

HAVELSAN’s ADVENT combat management system is the Turkish core of the Babur-class; two of four corvettes are in Pakistan Navy service as of September 2026.

Agosta 90B mid-life upgrade: 2 of 3 boats

STM won the roughly US$350 million contract in June 2016 to modernise Pakistan’s three French-designed Agosta 90B submarines. PNS Hamza was delivered on 29 April 2021 and sank a target ship in SEASPARK-2022; PNS Khalid followed in December 2022; PNS Saad is still in work.

PNS Moawin: the tanker that opened the shipbuilding track

The 17,000-tonne tanker PNS Moawin (A39) was designed by STM under a 2013 contract and built at KSEW; launched on 19 August 2016 and commissioned on 16 October 2018, it became the template for the local-build Babur-class hulls.

Air and unmanned systems

F-16 MLU: TUSAŞ upgraded 41 PAF Fighting Falcons

The oldest air programme is the Peace Drive II mid-life update of 41 PAF F-16A/B Block 15 aircraft, contracted to TUSAŞ in June 2009 (US$64.5 million, as reported). The first upgraded jet was handed over on 8 February 2012 and the last four on 2 September 2014. IISS Military Balance 2025 lists the F-16A/B MLU fleet at 31 single-seat and 23 two-seat aircraft; see our PAF aircraft inventory for 2026.

ASELPOD: 24 targeting pods, launch export customer

ASELSAN’s ASELPOD (an electro-optical/infrared pod that lets a fighter find, track and laser-designate ground targets) found its first export customer in Pakistan: eight pods in June 2016 for about US$25 million and sixteen more in 2017. Platform breakdown is not official; see our ASELPOD explainer.

ASELPOD: Pakistan was the launch export customer with 8 pods in 2016 and 16 more in 2017.

Bayraktar TB2 and AKINCI: in service, numbers undisclosed

The PAF flew its first Bayraktar TB2 on 8 March 2022; at least four were visible at Murid in satellite imagery that April, and Shephard confirmed Pakistan as a TB2 user on 2 June 2022. The heavier AKINCI followed after 44 PAF personnel trained in Türkiye in October 2022: a first batch of six to seven arrived in April 2023. ISPR press release 6712 of 2 January 2024 formally inducted both types. Neither Baykar nor the PAF has published totals: IISS Military Balance 2025 lists 24 TB2 and 7 AKINCI, and any larger number is an estimate.

Bayraktar AKINCI: inducted by ISPR on 2 January 2024; the first batch of 6–7 arrived in April 2023 and the total remains undisclosed.

KaGeM V3, K2 and KIZILELMA: one programme, two reports

Under the Baykar–NASTP research agreement of 7 August 2023, the two sides are developing the KaGeM V3, a mini air-launched cruise missile of roughly 70 kg and 150 km range; it is not in service. Two items are press reports only: The Week wrote on 9 September 2026 that Pakistan would receive the K2 kamikaze UAV, with no ISPR or Baykar confirmation, and the PAF chief’s visit to Baykar on 22 May 2026 produced reports that a KIZILELMA deal was “close to finalising”.

Land and air defence: KORKUT and ŞAHİN

On 6 September 2026, Pakistan’s Defence Day, the PAF revealed four short-range air-defence systems protecting its bases: the Chinese CASIC HQ-17AE and NORINCO LD-76, plus ASELSAN’s KORKUT 35 mm self-propelled anti-aircraft gun and ŞAHİN 40 mm gun. The reveal, reported by The Week and Army Recognition on 7 September, is the first public confirmation of ASELSAN gun systems in Pakistan; quantities, dates and prices were not disclosed. GÖKDENİZ, the naval derivative of the same 35 mm gun, arms the Babur-class; see our GÖKDENİZ deliveries guide.

Munitions and small arms: mostly on order

Almost all of this chapter sits in the Ordered column. MKE signed an aerospace-munitions contract with GIDS at IDEF on 24 July 2025; types and quantity were not published. Repkon signed with Wah Industries, the POF subsidiary, on 21 November 2024 for a turnkey 155 mm shell body and filling line rated at 120,000 rounds a year. Turaç’s July 2025 protocol with POF has produced no announced deliveries. The one mature line is Sarsılmaz: POF builds B6 and ST-9 pistols at Wah under a joint venture from about 2014. A Defense Post report of 9 June 2026 that MKE’s GAZAP thermobaric bomb was integrated on PAF F-16s (see our earlier coverage) has no ISPR or MKE confirmation.

Cancelled: the T129 ATAK order

Pakistan signed for 30 T129 ATAK attack helicopters from TUSAŞ in July 2018, worth about US$1.5 billion. The LHTEC CTS800 engine needs a US export licence, which Washington did not grant; by 2022 the DG ISPR said the Army had “moved on”, and the Chinese Z-10ME was inducted at Multan on 2 August 2025. No T129 was delivered.

Reverse direction: 52 Super Mushshaks for Türkiye

Pakistan Aeronautical Complex sold 52 Super Mushshak trainers to the Turkish Air Force under a May 2017 contract; the first three arrived at Yalova in October 2022 and all 52 were delivered by December 2025. It is the only Pakistani aircraft in Turkish service.

What is not in Pakistani service

ROKETSAN has no confirmed export to Pakistan; the Babur-class carries the Pakistani Harbah missile, not ATMACA. ASELSAN KORAL and radios have no contract; the only related document is an air-force EW memorandum among the 24 papers signed at the 7th High Level Strategic Cooperation Council on 12–13 February 2025. TUSAŞ ANKA has never been ordered. KAAN is a negotiation: the 8th Joint Working Group at NASTP on 20 January 2025 discussed participation, but nothing is signed. The Mecca Joint Defence Agreement of 7 August 2026 is political, not procurement (see the Mecca defence pact).

How big is Pakistan for Turkish exports? The SIPRI view

SIPRI data released in March 2026 rank Pakistan as Türkiye’s largest customer for 2021–25, at about 16 percent of Turkish major-arms exports, up from 10 percent in 2020–24. Seen from Islamabad the weight is different: SIPRI’s March 2025 fact sheet puts China at 81 percent of Pakistan’s imports in 2020–24, with Pakistan the fifth-largest importer worldwide at 4.6 percent. Türkiye is a distant second supplier, and the relationship’s value lies as much in co-production at KSEW, NASTP and Wah as in deliveries.

Every large programme since 2013 has included local build or R&D (see the cooperation timeline), while the T129 showed that US engine licences still govern Turkish exports, the question hanging over KAAN. Country-level picture: Pakistan’s military inventory in 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Pakistan use the Bayraktar TB2?

Yes. The PAF flew its first TB2 on 8 March 2022 and ISPR inducted TB2 and AKINCI on 2 January 2024. No official fleet size; IISS Military Balance 2025 lists 24.

How many AKINCI drones does Pakistan have?

No official figure. A first batch of 6–7 arrived in April 2023; IISS Military Balance 2025 counts 7. Later batches are unconfirmed reports.

How many MILGEM Babur-class corvettes does the Pakistan Navy have?

Two of four: PNS Babur (commissioned 23 September 2023) and PNS Khaibar (inducted 4 April 2026). Karachi-built Badr and Tariq are on sea trials, due 2026 and early 2027.

Did Pakistan buy the T129 ATAK helicopter?

Pakistan ordered 30 T129 in July 2018 (about US$1.5 billion), but the deal was cancelled in 2022 over the US engine export licence. None was delivered; the Z-10ME was inducted in August 2025 instead.

Is Pakistan buying the KAAN fighter or KIZILELMA?

Neither is under contract. KAAN participation was discussed at the 8th Joint Working Group in January 2025; the PAF chief’s Baykar visit in May 2026 produced KIZILELMA reports. Both remain negotiations.

How important is Pakistan for Turkish defence exports?

SIPRI data (March 2026) make Pakistan Türkiye’s largest arms customer for 2021–25 at about 16 percent of exports, up from 10 percent in 2020–24; China supplied 81 percent of Pakistan’s imports.
