The development
Malaysia’s defence ministry issued a Letter of Acceptance to MBDA France for the air-defence needs of the much-delayed Maharaja Lela-class Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) programme. The chosen system, VL MICA, will provide the ships’ point and area air defence.
VL MICA is the vertically launched shipborne version of MBDA’s MICA missile, used in both infrared- and radar-guided variants against aircraft, helicopters, UAVs and anti-ship missile threats.
