Status: The last completed recruitment drive was the 2025 intake (advert issued 14 September 2025; shortlists released 21–24 October 2025; interviews held November–December 2025). As of 13 September 2026, the Ministry of Defence has not published an advert for a new 2026 recruitment exercise. Envanter Media checks mod.go.ke and updates this page as soon as that changes.

There is no active KDF shortlist at the moment, because no new recruitment cycle has been announced for 2026. The last shortlist – for GSO Cadets, Specialist Officers and Tradesmen/Women – was released on 21-24 October 2025 through print media and the Ministry of Defence’s official channels. How the 2025 Shortlist Was Released

After the 12 October 2025 application deadline, the Ministry of Defence announced shortlisted candidates for GSO Cadets (Regular and Graduate), Specialist Officers and Tradesmen/Women between 21 and 24 October 2025, through print media notices. The list itself was also published as an official document on mod.go.ke. Candidates were then invited to interviews and final verification at specific KDF institutions:

How to Check a Genuine Shortlist

Look for the official announcement on mod.go.ke, not a forwarded image or a third-party recruitment blog.
Cross-check the announcement date and category names against the original advert for that cycle.
Ignore anyone who contacts you privately claiming to confirm your shortlist status for a fee – genuine notifications are public.

KDF recruitment is completely free. The Ministry of Defence states that no applicant is required to pay anyone, at any stage, to secure a recruitment slot.
