GlobalEye AEW&C: UAE’s Eye in the Sky — Saab’s Three-Domain Surveillance

GlobalEye is Saab’s SRSS (Swing Role Surveillance System) AEW&C platform on a Bombardier Global 6000 airframe with Erieye-ER AESA radar. It simultaneously scans air (450+ km), sea surface, and land (GMTI). The UAE operates 3 aircraft; 11-hour endurance offers a cost-effective alternative to E-7/E-3.
Three-Domain Surveillance
Conventional AEW&C covers air targets. GlobalEye’s SRSS architecture runs three sensor suites simultaneously: Erieye-ER air search (450+ km), maritime surface radar, and ground moving target indication (GMTI). Full-spectrum intelligence from one platform.
UAE Operations
Two aircraft delivered in 2023, third expected. UAE uses them to monitor the Strait of Hormuz and Arabian Peninsula. Offset agreements developed UAE’s local defense industry capacity.

Türk Muadili
Turkey’s AEW&C capability is limited to NATO E-3A group contributions. ASELSAN and HAVELSAN are developing indigenous AEW&C — GlobalEye suggests Saab sees Turkey as a potential future market.
