In the 146th issue of its corporate magazine GÖKVATAN, published on 2 November, TUSAŞ (Turkish Aerospace Industries) shared both the domestic delivery schedule for its new-generation basic trainer HÜRKUŞ-II and details of the aircraft’s first export. According to the magazine, the aircraft’s first export customer is Azerbaijan, and under a contract signed at the ADEX 2026 fair in Baku, 14 HÜRKUŞ-II aircraft will be exported to that country.

The contract covers not only the aircraft but also training aids and a logistics support package. According to TUSAŞ, the first deliveries to Azerbaijan are planned for within 2026. The defence package signed between Türkiye and Azerbaijan at ADEX had previously been reported publicly; the magazine has now clarified the number of aircraft and the delivery target in the HÜRKUŞ-II portion of the package.

Domestically, the schedule is as follows: under the 55-aircraft contract signed between the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) and TUSAŞ, the first two aircraft were handed over to the Air Force Command after the military type certificate was declared on 11 September 2026. According to the planned schedule, 12 more HÜRKUŞ-II aircraft will join the fleet in the September-December 2026 period. From 2027 onward, deliveries are expected to continue at a rate of two aircraft per month, with the process completed during 2028.

HÜRKUŞ-II’s military type certificate was approved on 9 September by the Certification Board, made up of experts from the Presidency of Defence Industries and the Air Force. TUSAŞ describes the aircraft as the first air vehicle to enter the fleet having completed this certification using national means. With its digital cockpit, night-vision-compatible systems and ejection seats, HÜRKUŞ-II is positioned as the step that prepares pilot candidates from basic training for the jet training to be conducted on the HÜRJET.

The magazine did not include the monetary value of the Azerbaijan contract or the schedule on which the aircraft will be delivered in succession.
