What Indigenous Systems Are on TCG Yavuz (F-240)?
TCG Yavuz (F-240) is a member of the Yavuz-class frigate (MEKO 200 TN Track I) in Turkish Naval Forces service. Built/procured via Blohm & Voss (Germany), it entered the inventory on 17 July 1987. The lead ship of the Yavuz class marked Turkey’s first generation of MEKO frigates; the class’s final two ships were built at Gölcük Naval Shipyard, laying the foundation for Turkish yards’ modern frigate-building capability.

SSB’s role
Turkey’s Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) acts as the procurement authority and coordinator for naval platforms: it sets requirements, manages contracts and oversees integration of domestic subcontractors (ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, ROKETSAN, STM, TÜBİTAK). The physical construction is carried out by the prime contractor shipyard and the systems are developed by the respective defence companies — SSB does not itself build the ship.
