What Indigenous Systems Are on Ç-159? The Landing Craft Built With 80% Local Content
Ç-159 is the first ship of the New Type Landing Craft (YLCT) programme, built by Anadolu Shipyard and launched on 22 February 2025 after just 10 months of construction. It entered service on 20 December 2025 at a joint ceremony in Istanbul alongside the submarine TCG Hızırreis and the ULAQ unmanned surface vessel; SSB President Haluk Görgün stated the ship was built with 80% domestic content.

Indigenous systems and armament
Ç-159 carries two ASELSAN 12.7mm stabilised weapon stations and two 30mm remote weapon systems, drawing on the same STAMP/SARP product family used across the MİLGEM fleet. Its power train includes two 300kW diesel generators and two 2,400kW main motors. At the ceremony, SSB President Görgün noted that Turkey’s naval indigenous content rate has risen from around 20% to 80% over the past 23 years.
Project scope and SSB’s role
The YLCT programme is procured by SSB, with a contract signed with Anadolu Shipyard in April 2024. Eight ships are planned in total, with the remaining seven due within 27 months of the first delivery.
