HAVELSAN’s Business Areas: Four Main Fields

What exactly does HAVELSAN do? Founded in 1982 and largely owned by the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, HAVELSAN is a defence- and IT-focused technology company. Its work falls into four main areas: command and control, training and simulation, cybersecurity, and management information systems. This article summarises the company’s business areas in an official frame.
For details of the areas, see our articles on Management Information Systems and Cybersecurity.
Command and control and combat management systems
At the centre of the company’s defence side are command and control systems. Combat management systems for naval platforms (ADVENT, GENESIS), command and control solutions for land (HARBİYE) and air command and control (KARTAL) are developed in this area. The aim is to merge different sensor and weapon systems into a single decision environment.

Training and simulation
In simulation, one of the areas it is best known for, HAVELSAN produces full-mission and full-flight simulators for both military and civil platforms. HÜRKUŞ, HÜRJET, ATAK and Gökbey simulators and civil aviation training centres sit in this area.
Cybersecurity
Through the Cyber Defense Technology Center (SİSATEM) and the Cyber Security Academy, institutions’ cyber resilience is strengthened. This area aims to protect critical infrastructure with domestic technology.
Management information systems
Civil informatics solutions that run the business processes of public bodies and institutions are developed in this area. The ATLAS Hospital Information Management System is one of its flagship products. The company also works on unmanned and autonomous systems and artificial intelligence.
