Long-term, the indigenous KAAN will take over this role. The Eurofighter and ÖZGÜR-modernized F-16s serve as a bridge until KAAN enters serial production — a triad forming the basis of Türkiye’s 2030s air power.

The Eurofighter is managed by Eurofighter GmbH, bringing together the industrial giants of the four partner nations: Airbus (Germany/Spain), BAE Systems (UK) and Leonardo (Italy). The engines are built by the Eurojet consortium.

This multinational structure distributes work among the partners; every aircraft has contributions from all four. Türkiye’s participation may also open doors for maintenance and possible local work share on these jets.

The Eurofighter is a symbol of Europe’s will to build its own fighter and the continent’s most widespread combat aircraft. With the AESA-radar Tranche 5, it is expected to serve into the 2060s.
