The U.S. Department of Defense has announced framework agreements with Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, and Honeywell Aerospace to quadruple strategic missile production capacity over three years. Lockheed Martin will increase Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) production four-fold, while BAE Systems will similarly scale Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) interceptor annual output. PrSM, equipped with GPS guidance, reaches approximately 250 miles and is compatible with both HIMARS and M270 MLRS platforms. The system saw combat deployment during Operation Epic Fury against Iranian targets. THAAD is designed to neutralize aerial and ballistic threats traveling at speeds exceeding 17,000 mph. Honeywell Aerospace will accelerate production of critical components including navigation systems and electronic warfare equipment.
