Görgün: Turkey to Host 37 Nations for a Flight Demonstration at TUSAŞ on July 7

Haluk Görgün, head of Turkey’s Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB), described the program for the Defense Industry Forum tied to the 36th NATO Leaders’ Summit in Ankara on July 7-8, telling A Haber that for the first time the forum is being held as the summit’s main event rather than a side program.

Panels through the day, a showcase at TUSAŞ by night
According to Görgün, the forum will open in the morning and continue through six parallel sessions covering topics from innovation to supply chains. The afternoon session will be open to press, following remarks by the NATO Secretary General, Turkey’s defense minister and Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, and will include a panel featuring NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and the deputy secretary general.

Görgün said a separate evening event will be held on July 7 at TUSAŞ’s Kahramankazan campus, bringing together some 550 attendees — including heads of state, defense ministers and armaments directors from NATO’s 32+5 allied nations. “We do not see this as a show of force, we are not planning it that way at all — we are planning it as a sharing of capability,” he said.

Görgün said TUSAŞ’s runway facilities will be used to stage a flight demonstration featuring both TUSAŞ and Baykar’s manned and unmanned platforms, with additional technology products displayed along the runway. He said the plan had been endorsed by NATO headquarters.

Context
The forum will also feature an exhibition area for four separate joint-production and new-technology projects, which Görgün said could serve as an opportunity for technology and capability demonstrations and for gaining or sharing expertise with allied nations.
