What Indigenous Systems Are on TCG Büyükada (F-512)?

TCG Büyükada (F-512) is a member of the Ada-class corvette (MİLGEM) in Turkish Naval Forces service. Built/procured via Istanbul Naval Shipyard, it entered the inventory on 27 September 2013. As the second Ada-class ship, Büyükada proved the MİLGEM programme could move into series production; its delivery within two years of the lead ship showed the shipyard had rapidly climbed the learning curve.

Indigenous systems
Turkish-built systems aboard TCG Büyükada include:
- GENESIS Muharebe Yönetim Sistemi (HAVELSAN)
- ARES-2N Elektronik Harp (ASELSAN)
- STAMP 12,7mm Silah Platformu (ASELSAN)
- ATMACA Gemi Savar Füzesi (ROKETSAN)
SSB’s role
Turkey’s Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) acts as the procurement authority and coordinator for naval platforms: it sets requirements, manages contracts and oversees integration of domestic subcontractors (ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, ROKETSAN, STM, TÜBİTAK). The physical construction is carried out by the prime contractor shipyard and the systems are developed by the respective defence companies — SSB does not itself build the ship.
