What do SDT’s RF jammer systems do?
Yazı Özetini Göster

Quick answer: SDT’s RF jammer systems are designed to prevent remote-controlled improvised explosive devices (RCIEDs) from being triggered by radio, cordless phone or remote control. The vehicle-type version is aimed at VIP and convoy protection, while the 7-14 kilogram manpack version protects personnel. The systems are produced in a business partnership with TAMGÖR and, according to General Manager Ömer Korkut, have been exported to Libya, Tanzania, Burkina Faso and Nigeria. The same technology base has also been adapted into a rifle-type counter-drone system.

What threat does the system work against?

Remote-controlled explosive devices are among the main threats security forces face on convoy and patrol duty. According to SDT’s official product pages, the jammers neutralize devices activated by radios, cordless phones and remote controls by forming a protective shield of RF emissions. The systems operate continuously across a wide band, use DDS technology and can be reprogrammed against changing threats. Control from a handheld terminal, module selection, and fault and VSWR warnings are among the standard features.

Mechanically, the two versions diverge along different priorities. The manpack system puts ergonomics and easy portability first; the operator is shielded from the emissions by RF-proof textile, and the system can run self-tests. The vehicle-type version emphasizes power from an additional vehicle alternator, protection of the vehicle interior against RF effects and a structure resistant to shock and vibration. Both products are built to the MIL-STD 810 environmental standard.

How does the TAMGÖR partnership work?

According to the official manufacturing programs page, SDT develops the manpack and vehicle-type jammers for the Turkish Armed Forces and security forces together with its business partner TAMGÖR. The two companies presented the products jointly at the FIEP international gendarmerie event in Antalya, and the SDT-TAMGÖR partnership is listed among the group structures in A1 Capital’s May 2026 note. Under the capacity plan in the same note, once the new HAB campus comes online the annual production capacity for vehicle-type systems is targeted to rise from 500 to 2,000 units, and for manpack systems from 500 to 5,000. The adaptation of this technology to the drone threat is examined in the AVCI counter-drone file.

What is the export and user picture?

Korkut said in the interview published in June 2025 that the RF jammer systems were exported to Libya, Tanzania, Burkina Faso and Nigeria; the contract values were not disclosed. At home, the products are in the inventory of security forces; the official pages list bomb disposal, narcotics and counter-terrorism teams as the areas of use. The company’s overall export strategy is covered in the export file, its electronic warfare background in the EW file and the full product range in the product guide.
