Eurosatory 2026: Drones Dominate as France Bars Israel From Showing Offensive Weapons

Eurosatory returned to Paris from June 15 to 19, 2026, and the exhibition that once revolved around armored vehicles and artillery had been visibly reshaped by four years of high-intensity warfare. Drone systems — strike platforms, loitering munitions, counter-UAV solutions, autonomous ground vehicles — drew the heaviest foot traffic, a reflection of what the war in Ukraine has made impossible to ignore.

The political dimension of this year’s show was established before the first exhibitor badge was printed. France imposed restrictions on Israeli defense firms: companies could display defensive systems — missile defense, active protection, air-surveillance radars — but were barred from exhibiting offensive platforms and were denied a national pavilion. The decision reflected France’s publicly stated position on the Gaza conflict and generated considerable debate within the European defense industry, where Israeli firms have historically been significant contributors to counter-drone and electronic warfare technology.

Electronic warfare and autonomous ground vehicles attracted sustained attention from delegations across Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Perhaps the most structurally significant novelty at Eurosatory 2026 was the Defense Finance Cluster — a designated area where banks, private equity funds, and institutional investors displayed alongside weapons manufacturers for the first time in the show’s history. European defense investment has accelerated sharply since 2022, and the cluster formalized what has already been happening in boardrooms: finance capital is now a recognized participant in the defense industrial ecosystem.
