Unifo: the Turkish MRE maker behind the army’s combat rations

Western militaries have spent the past three years relearning how fragile their consumables supply chains are. Türkiye’s answer in the field-ration segment is Unifo Gida ve Savunma Sanayi, a Gebze-based producer of sterilised and pasteurised ready meals that has supplied combat ration packs to the Turkish Armed Forces since the late 1990s and describes the TSK as its largest customer.
Capacity and product
According to company material, Unifo’s aluminium-tray MRE line can turn out more than 150,000 units per shift in 150 g, 170 g, 200 g and 250 g formats, with an ambient shelf life of up to two years. The firm lists around 110 menu variants, 50 of them for the domestic market and 70 for export customers, plus sandwich-type snacks. It calls its plant one of the largest-capacity filling facilities in the world. Founded in 1997 with wholly Turkish capital, Unifo belongs to Uyar Holding and also runs a branch in Yerköy, Yozgat.
Beyond the military line, Unifo sells to catering and food-service customers and under retail brands including ta!da! and Unifood. In August 2021 Turkish agency SAHA assigned it a national long-term credit rating of (TR) BBB+ with a stable outlook.
Why it matters to NATO logisticians
NATO’s Defence Planning Process treats operational rations as a national responsibility, and most allies rely on one or two domestic suppliers. Türkiye, which keeps troops deployed in Syria, Iraq, Somalia, Libya, Qatar and Kosovo, has had to sustain field feeding at scale for a decade. A producer with export-specific halal menus and two-year shelf life is relevant to Gulf and Central Asian partners buying Turkish equipment, and potentially to allies seeking second-source rations for Black Sea or eastern-flank stockpiles.
Gaps in the public record
No verified public figures were found for Unifo’s headcount, revenue, export destinations or annual deliveries to the Turkish military. Company pages give the Gebze plant’s enclosed area variously as 8,500 and 12,071 square metres.
