What Indigenous Systems Are on TCG Göksu (F-497)?
TCG Göksu (F-497) is a member of the Gabya-class frigate (ex-Oliver Hazard Perry) in Turkish Naval Forces service. Built/procured via USA — GENESIS modernisation in Turkey, it entered the inventory on 4 April 2003 (transferred from the US). The last Gabya-class ship, Göksu was transferred in 2003 and modernised under GENESIS; the eight-ship class became the first fleet on which Turkey tested its indigenous combat management capability at scale.

SSB’s role
Turkey’s Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) acts as the procurement authority and coordinator for naval platforms: it sets requirements, manages contracts and oversees integration of domestic subcontractors (ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, ROKETSAN, STM, TÜBİTAK). The physical construction is carried out by the prime contractor shipyard and the systems are developed by the respective defence companies — SSB does not itself build the ship.
