FNSS PARS Deliveries Explained: Which Countries, and How Many Exported?

PARS is a family combining the protection, mobility and mission flexibility expected of a modern wheeled armored combat vehicle. Independent suspension, a high-torque powertrain and amphibious capability let it move effectively across difficult terrain and water obstacles, while transparent armor (ballistic glass) and modern sensors give the crew high situational awareness.

The family’s greatest strength is modularity: the same base platform can be built in 6×6 or 8×8 configuration with dozens of mission kits, letting one vehicle family meet an army’s personnel-carrier, reconnaissance, command-and-control, anti-tank, CBRN and mortar-carrier needs through a common logistics chain.

The PARS family serves with the Turkish military and Gendarmerie and with export customers. Malaysia and Oman are among the largest foreign operators.

The Malaysian version of the PARS 8×8, the AV8 Gempita, was selected by the Malaysian army in 257 units and 12 mission configurations. In the project run by FNSS and its local partner DEFTECH (DRB-HICOM Defence Technologies), much of the fleet was produced locally in Malaysia. The contract remains Türkiye’s largest single defense-systems export to date.

The AV8 project is not just a sale but a strategic cooperation model involving technology transfer and local production. Malaysia strengthened its own defense-industry base, while FNSS gained a lasting reference in the Southeast Asian market.

FNSS completed the delivery of 172 armored vehicles to the Royal Army of Oman — PARS III 8×8 and PARS III 6×6. Of these, 145 were PARS III 8×8 delivered in 8 configurations and 27 were PARS III 6×6 delivered in 5 configurations.

This delivery showed PARS to be a mature platform proven in desert and hot-climate conditions. The Gulf reference opened the door to further export opportunities for FNSS.

Under the Special-Purpose Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicles (ÖMTTZA) project, FNSS is producing 95 PARS for the Turkish Land Forces: 30× 6×6 command vehicles, 45× 8×8 sensor-reconnaissance vehicles, 15× 6×6 radar vehicles and 5× 8×8 CBRN vehicles. A further 5× 8×8 infantry combat vehicles will be delivered to the Gendarmerie.

The reconnaissance/surveillance variant, named PARS İZCİ, aims to make a difference in TSK reconnaissance with superior mobility and amphibious capability. Fitted with transparent armor and advanced sensors, it provides high situational awareness.

The prime contractor is FNSS Defence Systems. The family is one of the platforms symbolizing the Turkish defense industry’s export strength in wheeled armor; Malaysia and Oman show FNSS can export not just vehicles but local-production and technology-transfer packages.

PARS’s amphibious capability and broad configuration range make it not just a combat vehicle but a system family spanning reconnaissance, logistics, CBRN and command-and-control. This breadth gives user armies a wide mission set on a single platform and a shared spare-parts pool — a significant cost and logistics advantage.

Export references show PARS’s maturity proven across climates and geographies: from Malaysia’s tropical forests to Oman’s desert conditions, a wide usage range has confirmed the vehicle’s reliability in the field, creating a strong reference for new buyer nations.

FNSS’s business model of local production and technology transfer takes Türkiye’s defense exports beyond one-off sales. Involving buyer nations’ own industries opens the door to long-term partnerships, training and sustainment deals and follow-on orders.
