According to project data released by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) in September 2026, 33 vehicles have been delivered to the Turkish Land Forces and a contract amendment covering 77 more has been signed. What Is the 8×8 Wheeled Recovery Vehicle?
SSB defines its role as recovering the Land Forces’ tactical wheeled vehicles after accidents or breakdowns and providing critical combat service support. As Türkiye fielded thousands of mine-protected vehicles and heavier 8×8 platforms, it needed a recovery vehicle that could work under the same threat conditions. MPG says its vehicles serve with units in eastern, southeastern and western Türkiye and at Turkish bases abroad.

Who Builds It and Program History
MPG, part of Bera Holding, first entered the field with the M4K, developed in under 18 months for SSB’s partially mine-protected recovery vehicle requirement and built on Anadolu Isuzu’s SEYİT 8×8 chassis with a Cummins X15 engine. It debuted at IDEF 2019; a contract amendment followed on May 10, 2019, and 29 vehicles were delivered between March and August 2020.
The new-generation vehicle, refined using field feedback, followed. The first five were handed over at MPG’s Konya plant in early May 2023, and MPG announced completion of all 33 in March 2024, bringing its total armored recovery fleet in Turkish service to 62. On July 30, 2025, at IDEF 2025, SSB and MPG signed the Armored Recovery and Towing Vehicles Procurement Project for 85 vehicles: 77 recovery vehicles for the Land Forces plus two tow trucks and two recovery vehicles each for the Gendarmerie and the National Police, in 8×8, 8×4 and 4×2 configurations, with deliveries due within two years.
Turkish Service and Deliveries
SSB confirms 33 new-generation vehicles in Land Forces service. The 77-vehicle follow-on batch is scheduled for completion by mid-2027; how many had been delivered as of September 2026 has not been disclosed.
Exports
No export contract has been made public. MPG says it is targeting friendly and allied nations and uses Turkish Army service as its main reference.

The first-generation M4K made its debut at IDEF 2019. The new-generation 8×8 was shown at IDEF 2025, where the follow-on contract was also signed.
Local Content and Key Subsystems
No official local content figure has been published. The 2025 contract announcement stated that armor steel, armored glass, winches, semi-trailers and superstructure systems would be sourced domestically. Key subsystems are the 25-tonne-class slewing crane, the three-drum winch system, the protected cab and the 600 hp powertrain. The new vehicle’s engine supplier has not been disclosed.

The US Army relies on the Oshkosh HEMTT M984 wrecker, while many European armies use armored-cab recovery vehicles built on the Rheinmetall MAN HX chassis. Russia fields KamAZ- and Ural-based recovery trucks. The MPG vehicle combines a 25-tonne lift at 7 meters with a 48-tonne protected platform, and it has been refined over two generations using feedback from Turkish operations at home and abroad.
