HANÇER: Elektroland’s Tracked Medium UGV — Specs, Turkish Service and Exports Explained

HANÇER, a Medium Class Level 1 unmanned ground vehicle developed by Ankara-based Elektroland Defence, has entered series production for the Turkish Land Forces Command. Project data released by the Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) in September 2026 shows qualification of the first five production vehicles is complete and a contract amendment for five more has been signed. Its four independently articulated track pods and adjustable ride height set it apart from most robots in its class.

What Is HANÇER?

HANÇER, Turkish for dagger, is a squad-level robot meant to keep soldiers out of harm’s way during reconnaissance, surveillance and resupply. SSB frames the requirement as a Medium Class Level 1 UGV for reconnaissance and load carriage; Elektroland pitches it as a force multiplier for last-mile logistics and force protection.

The four track pods are the signature feature, singled out in SSB’s own project note, and the vehicle’s height can be adjusted from the remote control unit. Mission kits include a cargo basket, a mast-mounted surveillance system and, as shown during the 2021 competition, a 7.62mm remote weapon station or a 40mm grenade launcher. Elektroland has added AI-based target detection and tracking and a follow-me mode.

The 804 kg figure is heavier than the 500-650 kg quoted for early prototypes, reflecting the added mast, communications gear and hardening that came out of field feedback. Side-slope figures vary between sources (30% to 40%) and are therefore omitted.

Who Builds It and Program History

Elektroland started in 1996 as a maintenance and repair provider for foreign OEMs serving Turkish users and has since become a specialist in UGVs and EOD robots. HANÇER was built for SSB’s Medium Class Level 1 UGV competition, where in 2021 it was tested against ASELSAN’s ASLAN, HAVELSAN’s BARKAN and Best Group’s FEDAİ on mobility, autonomy and live firing. BARKAN and HANÇER emerged as the two leading designs.

Development began in 2020, and Defense News reported the first vehicle took roughly five months to build. The series production kick-off meeting was held at Elektroland’s Gölbaşı plant on 30 April 2025, and on 6 May 2026, at SAHA 2026, SSB signed an amendment adding five vehicles, with SSB Deputy President Mustafa Murat Şeker and Elektroland CEO Ferhat Uğur in attendance.

Turkish Service and Deliveries

Three HANÇERs were already serving with Land Forces units in April 2025. The first five series vehicles have now completed qualification, acceptance of production vehicles is planned next, and the amendment brings the contracted total to ten. Elektroland says feedback from multiple security branches shaped the design and that the vehicle has passed waterproofing tests.

Exports

No export contract for HANÇER has been made public. Elektroland says international marketing is under way and reports strong interest from the Middle East. The company claims exports to more than 15 countries across its portfolio, and its light DİNÇER robot has reportedly been sold to Oman, Bangladesh and India.

Trade Show Appearances

HANÇER’s most prominent public moment was the contract signing at SAHA 2026 in Istanbul. Elektroland also presented its product family at BSDA 2026 in Bucharest in May 2026, where MILMAG described HANÇER as its tracked medium platform, and the 2021 competition demonstrations gave the vehicle its first wide exposure. Local Content and Key Subsystems

No official local-content figure has been released. HANÇER is designed by Elektroland engineers and built in Gölbaşı, with platform design, software and system integration done in Türkiye; suppliers of motors, batteries and the control unit have not been disclosed.

Elektroland is also developing the 6×6 BOZKURT for SSB and the Type-2 EOD robot, which enters qualification in September 2026, while elsewhere in the Turkish ecosystem Esetron’s TARIK kamikaze UGV has a 200-unit approval.
