Aselsan and Roketsan have signed new contracts with Turkey’s Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) for the additional serial production of the HISAR-A and HISAR-O air defense systems. According to Aselsan’s 10 July 2026 filing with the Public Disclosure Platform, the total value of the contract was declared at about €1.47 billion.

SSB President Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün stated that the contracts were signed in line with the decisions of the Defense Industry Executive Committee dated 18 February 2026, adding that work on the multi-layered air defense system would continue. The contracts are part of projects carried out under Turkey’s multi-layered air defense architecture named ‘Steel Dome’ (Çelik Kubbe).

The HISAR family and Steel Dome

The HISAR family consists of Turkey’s indigenous air defense missile systems. HISAR-A was developed for the low-altitude layer and HISAR-O for the medium-altitude layer of air defense. The missile and fire-control components of both systems are produced through cooperation between Roketsan and Aselsan.

Steel Dome is a multi-layered air defense concept aiming to unite the low-, medium- and high-altitude layers under a single command-and-control architecture. Additional serial production of the HISAR systems stands out as a step that strengthens the in-service depth of this architecture.
