ST Engineering launched the second multi-role combat vessel ‘Valour’ for the Singapore Navy.
The Singaporean defense technology company ST Engineering launched Valour — the second multi-role combat vessel (MRCV) of the Victory class for the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN). According to Naval News, the ceremony took place on July 23, 2026, at the company’s Benoi shipyard in Singapore.
A total of six MRCVs are planned, with deliveries expected to begin in 2028. The second ship, Valour, will now undergo completion, system integration, and sea trials before being commissioned.
Technical Specifications
According to Naval News, the ship is 150 meters long, 21 meters wide, and has a displacement of about 8000 tons. With a maximum speed exceeding 22 knots, the MRCV offers a range of over 7000 nautical miles, an autonomy of more than 21 days, and the capability to operate with a crew of less than 100 personnel.
Thanks to task automation, the ship can operate with a smaller crew and is designed as a “carrier vessel” for unmanned systems. The platform is capable of carrying and operating unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), unmanned surface vessels (USVs), and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). Among the project’s features are modular task compartments for containerized equipment and a domestically developed combat management system (CMS).
Name Legacy
The ships of the program are named after previously serving Victory class corvettes of the Singapore Navy. This continuity indicates that the new MRCVs are intended to replace the old corvettes of the fleet. Coordinating Minister K. Shanmugam stated that the ship “strengthens our fleet’s capability” to ensure the security of Singapore’s maritime approaches.
Regional Context
As an island nation at the crossroads of maritime trade routes, Singapore is orienting its fleet towards networked platforms capable of operating with unmanned systems. The MRCV program stands out as a regional example of a next-generation combat vessel concept that combines classic combat capabilities with the function of a carrier for unmanned systems.
