K239 Chunmoo: South Korea’s Modular MLRS Exported to Poland and UAE

The K239 Chunmoo is Hanwha Aerospace’s 8×8 wheeled modular MLRS capable of firing calibers from 130mm to 600mm. With KTSSM tactical ballistic missiles it reaches 290 km. Poland ordered 290+218, UAE ordered 72 vehicles.
Modular Canister Architecture
Chunmoo’s design philosophy: swap the canister, change the mission. Options range from 130mm rockets to 400mm KTSSM-I (180 km) and 600mm KTSSM-II (290 km). A single platform covers both multiple-launch rockets and tactical ballistic missiles.
Poland and UAE Contracts
Poland launched procurement of 290 Chunmoos post-Ukraine invasion, with a further 218 under negotiation. UAE ordered 72 vehicles in 2022 with deliveries from 2024.

Türk Muadili
ROKETSAN’s TRG-300 Kaplan covers similar range bands. Chunmoo’s KTSSM ballistic layer is comparable to Turkey’s J-600T Yıldırım. The modular single-platform architecture is Chunmoo’s clearest differentiator.
