What is HAVELSAN HELSİM? HELSİM is HAVELSAN’s helicopter simulator and training-centre project for pilot and technician training. It covers full mission simulators for different helicopters such as the S-70 Black Hawk, SH-70B SeaHawk, AS532 Cougar and T129 ATAK. What does HELSİM do?
The simulators under HELSİM let pilots carry out orientation, refresher, instrument-flight, emergency and war-preparation training without real-world risk. The simulators can execute joint training exercises involving multiple aircraft, complemented by an Exercise Control Center for monitoring and managing scenarios.
Which helicopters does it cover?
Under the HELSİM project, HAVELSAN has delivered simulators for helicopters such as the S-70 Black Hawk and SH-70B SeaHawk, the AS532 Cougar and the T129 ATAK. SeaHawk pilots are trained with a Full Mission Simulator, a Mission Simulator and a Sensor Operator Trainer. HAVELSAN has also unveiled a simulator for the Gökbey helicopter.
Level-D full mission simulator
HELSİM simulators are compliant with the Level-D full mission simulator standard under the Certification Specification for Flight Simulator Training Devices (CS-FSTD). This level represents the fidelity closest to real flight and allows training taken on the simulator to count toward actual flight hours.
International use
The HELSİM infrastructure has also hosted foreign training; for example, pilots from Malaysian Army Aviation received Black Hawk simulator training in Türkiye. This shows the system’s export and cooperation dimension.
