RBS 70 NG: Saab’s Laser-Guided Surface-to-Air Missile System

RBS 70 NG (New Generation) is Saab’s laser beam-riding surface-to-air missile system, in service with more than 20 nations. By guiding the missile along the centre of a laser beam aimed at the target, it removes the susceptibility to flares and infrared countermeasures that plagues IR-seeker missiles. The BOLIDE missile variant extends range beyond 8 km and ceiling above 5 km — bridging VSHORAD and SHORAD envelopes in a single launcher.
