From Land Law to the Defence Ministry
Born in Narok County in 1982, Tuya is the daughter of former Narok South MP Samson Ole Tuya. She read law at the University of Nairobi (1999-2002) and completed a master of laws in sustainable international development at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Her legal career began at Kenya’s Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs (2006-2008), followed by the legal-aid organization Kituo Cha Sheria and a stint as land law and gender specialist at USAID-Kenya (2010-2012).
