What Indigenous Systems Are on TCG Fatih (F-242)?
TCG Fatih (F-242) is a member of the Yavuz-class frigate (MEKO 200 TN Track I) in Turkish Naval Forces service. Built/procured via Gölcük Naval Shipyard, it entered the inventory on 1988. TCG Fatih was the first Yavuz-class ship built at Gölcük Naval Shipyard, proving Turkish yards could construct a MEKO frigate with domestic labour and laying early groundwork for the MİLGEM programme.

SSB’s role
Turkey’s Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) acts as the procurement authority and coordinator for naval platforms: it sets requirements, manages contracts and oversees integration of domestic subcontractors (ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, ROKETSAN, STM, TÜBİTAK). The physical construction is carried out by the prime contractor shipyard and the systems are developed by the respective defence companies — SSB does not itself build the ship.
