FNSS KAPLAN MT Medium Tank: Update on the Indonesian Configuration
FNSS and PT Pindad are partnering to develop a comprehensive upgrade package for the medium tank known in Indonesia as Harimau. The system will expand its role in the inventory of the Indonesian Army.
Medium Tank Concept
KAPLAN MT occupies an intermediate position between the main battle tank and the armored personnel carrier. It offers an improved balance between armor and mobility for operations in tropical forests and soft terrain.
Upgrades Tailored for Indonesia
The upgrade package includes an improved cooling system for tropical climates, integration of local communications, and enhancements in fire control.
Second Customer Expectations
FNSS has initiated preliminary discussions with a second customer for KAPLAN MT in the Asian market. Potential customers include the Philippines, Malaysia, and Bangladesh.
