Brimstone 3: MMW Radar Dual-Guided Anti-Armor Missile

Brimstone 3 is MBDA’s 12 km-range air-to-surface anti-armor missile with MMW radar and laser dual guidance. A single aircraft volley of 3 rounds engages 3 separate armored vehicles simultaneously. Brimstone 2’s success in Ukraine gave the Mk3 export momentum.
MMW Radar: Fire-and-Forget
Brimstone’s MMW seeker operates in autonomous search-and-engage mode. The pilot fires at a general coordinate; the missile scans for armored vehicles and prioritizes targets; laser guidance adds terminal accuracy. This fire-and-forget capability adds operational depth to F-16, Typhoon, and Apache operators.
Multiple-Target Engagement
Three Brimstones from one aircraft target three separate vehicles. A single pass disperses an entire tank formation. This was employed against Russian armor in urban areas in Ukraine.

Türk Muadili
ROKETSAN UMTAS is an 8+ km dual-guided (TV+IIR) air-to-surface missile. Compared to Brimstone’s MMW fire-and-forget mode and multi-target capability, UMTAS relies on line-of-sight guidance.
