What Is the eJLTV? Electric JLTV Development Program and Goals

The eJLTV is Oshkosh Defense’s electric/hybrid-drive research variant built on the JLTV platform. The program addresses U.S. Army priorities around reducing fuel logistics burden and developing low-electromagnetic-signature (silent watch) capability.
eJLTV Core Objectives
| Objective | Operational Benefit |
|---|---|
| Reduce fuel consumption | Lower dependence on fuel convoys, shorter logistics chain |
| Electronic silence | Low thermal/acoustic signature in electric drive mode |
| Onboard power generation | Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capability for field electronics |
| Extended range | Diesel-electric hybrid for extended operations |
| Environmental compliance | Alignment with allied emissions regulations |
Program Status (as of 2025)
Per publicly available sources, the eJLTV remains in research and development. It runs parallel to conventional JLTV production rather than as a replacement program. Meeting the same operational performance, military reliability, and maintenance standards as the fielded JLTV is the threshold for any production transition.
