The U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA) plans to test its capability to track and intercept hypersonic glide vehicles along the U.S. East Coast in 2027. Hypersonic defense remains one of NATO’s most critical capability gaps. The MDA successfully completed the first live target tracking exercise with Japan’s Maritime Self-Defense Force using the SPY-7 radar. Israel and the MDA completed David’s Sling Weapon System test series in February 2026, demonstrating interception capability against rockets, missiles, cruise missiles, and UAVs.
