What is DENİZHAN?

DENİZHAN is a 76/62mm domestically produced automatic naval gun developed under the leadership of ASFAT (Military Factory and Shipyard Corporation) and MKE. The 76mm refers to the caliber of the gun, while 62 caliber indicates the length of the barrel (62 × 76mm = 4.7m barrel).So far, the new generation surface vessels of the Turkish Navy (MİLGEM Ada-class frigates, İSTİF-class frigates, Yavuz/Barbaros frigates, Kılıç-class fast boats, etc.) have primarily used the Italian Leonardo Oto Melara 76/62 Super Rapid Gun. This gun is the most common naval gun in the world—but it means reliance on imports, which implies that the supply of spare parts and ammunition depends on foreign sources.DENİZHAN is a project aimed at ending this dependency. A domestic gun of the same class, size, and compatible with the same type of ammunition—standard weapon for new MİLGEM Block-2, TF-2000 air defense frigates, TCG Anadolu strike variant, and other platforms. It can engage air (incoming missiles), surface (ships), and land (shore targets) targets.
