Poland’s PZL Mielec to Build Electrical Wiring Harnesses for the F-35

PZL Mielec, Lockheed Martin’s subsidiary in Poland, will produce wiring harnesses used in the F-35’s electrical and data-transmission systems. The production phase is planned for 2027–2029, with the first delivery expected in July 2027.
Scope of the Programme
According to the Polish aviation outlet Rynek Lotniczy, the programme covers 287 types of harnesses, both conventional and fibre-optic. The Mielec plant is aiming for about 13,000 harnesses a year, which means assembling more than 90,000 connectors and thousands of assembly, inspection and test operations.
Requirements include advanced fibre-optic testing, high-speed data transmission, information security, strict quality standards, configuration control and part traceability.

Incentive and Other Work
The Polish Investment Agency (ARP) issued a support decision under the Polish Investment Zone allowing corporate income tax exemption worth up to about PLN 17 million, the company’s second such decision. The plant will also build cockpit structures for Lockheed Martin’s UH-60 Black Hawk.
PZL Mielec president and CEO Janusz Zakręcki called the F-35 programme an important milestone in the company’s history.
