HGK-3 GPS/INS Guidance System: Export approvals have been obtained for the new version.
TOBITAK SAGE, which developed the HGK-3 GPS/INS guidance kit, has received additional export approvals with the new version. The system provides precise strike capability for conventional bombs MK-83 and MK-84.
Egg Bomb → Smart Munition
HGK-3, thanks to the GPS/INS guidance kit installed as part of the tail unit, enables the conversion of conventional bombs into guided munitions.
In the Turkish Air Force
HGK-3 is currently being used operationally in the F-16 squadrons of the Turkish Air Force. The system is the cornerstone of TOBITAK SAGE’s smart munitions family and also the main munition for precision strike operations.
New Version Capabilities
The new version provides stronger GPS signal acquisition and more reliable performance in challenging GPS environments. The INS backup mode has also been enhanced.
